Etisalat to
Celebrate Earth Hour in
all seven UAE

Dhabi, UAE March 24, 2010
– Etisalat today announced it will join other leading UAE companies in
participating in Earth Hour on March 27, 2010. Etisalat’s iconic buildings and
facilities in all seven emirates will be darkened through the evening as special
care is taken to ensure all non-essential lighting and electronics are turned
off. Etisalat is also inviting its 10,000 staff in the UAE to become
eco-ambassadors on the evening and participate in the various events taking
place across the country.

Etisalat is
investing Dh 5bn in a fiber optic network that consumes as much as 73% less
energy and emits less than 85% fewer greenhouse gases. It has also installed
solar power facilities across its 18 countries in places of natural beauty such
as the Ras Mohamed National Park in Sinai, Egypt. Through advances in Cloud
Computing, Smart Buildings and Data Centres Etisalat is also allowing its
residential and business customers to reduce their carbon footprint by deploying
the latest solutions.
The UAE
Earth Hour 2010 seeks to raise awareness about climate change and encourage UAE
residents, business leaders and government officials to take action and start
planning a reduction in CO2 emissions. Last year 400,000 people in the UAE
participated in Earth Hour
